Dar Al-Riyadh made a commitment to develop and acculture strategic employee recognition practices across the company to create a great place to work and achieve business goals. This dedication and demonstrated use of the seven best practices earned the organization the 2021 Overall Best Practice Standards Award.
Standard 1 - Dar Al-Riyadh uses its GETUP approach (Genuine, Explicit, Timely, Unexpected and Proportional recognition). Elements include #darstar, a hashtag employees can use to recognize their coworkers; technology to support recognition, which Dar Al-Riyadh is building an IT solution for; email, WhatsApp, internal digital signage boards and an intranet.
Standard 2 - Dar Al-Riyadh assigns certain employees in each division to the title of Recognition Program Champions. Program Champions help select employees from each division who deserve to be recognized.
Standard 3 - A survey, “Employee Satisfaction Level with Dar Al-Riyadh’s Recognition Programs,” is used to gather employee feedback and measure satisfaction. With a score of 3.79, the organization exceeded its target goal of 3.75 this year.
Standard 4 - Dar Al-Riyadh uses a Recognition Communication Calendar and multiple branded communication channels including email, DAR News, an internet solution, WhatsApp, and Annual Business Meetings. Through these channels, Dar Al-Riyadh provides circulars, posters, videos and bulletin boards to communicate about its recognition efforts to employees.
Standard 5 - Training, accredited by HRCI, is offered both in person and virtually. It uses best practices and learning principles, including multimedia, exercises and implementation tools to help managers learn and implement concepts.
Standard 6 - Dar Al-Riyadh’s Annual Business Meetings, E-Townhall Recognition Events, Formal Brief Events and Informal Meetings are all sponsored directly by the CEO and used to promote recognition.
Standard 7 - Dar Al-Riyadh uses the ADKAR Model, which is a goal-based change management model that focuses on Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability and Reinforcement. Using ADKAR helped the organization to be flexible and responsive to the COVID-19 pandemic. They adopted a principle called “People Before Profits”. This strategy helped the organization to avoid having layoffs or salary deductions for its employees. They also used virtual tools to ensure employees continued to be recognized for their efforts.
