Utilizing the Professional Development Portal

IMA offers the ability for you to track your professional development credits on the IMA website. After you attend an IMA event, your credits are entered into your professional development module. You also have the ability to enter other non-IMA professional development activities into the module. This system can be used to verify your credits toward IMA certification or recertification. Getting Started: Know Your Way Around

professional development area To access the Professional Development portal, simply LINK: Log in to the IMA website. This is available on the home page of the site or at the top of every page. Once you log in, you will see your manage profile area. Under the Content & Features, there is a link to access the Professional Development area. Click on that link.

View Your IMA Credits

Once you access the Professional Development area, you will see a listing of all the sessions that have been recorded for credit with IMA. This section is sortable by several different criteria, including name, activity date, and type. If there are any discrepancies on this list with IMA events that you believe you have attended, please contact the IMA office.

In addition to being able to view the sessions for which you have received credit, you can also download a complete transcript. This transcript will show a Cumulative CE Record for any credits earned.

Please note: This transcript is for reference purposes only and does not serve as an official transcript in any capacity whatsoever. Depending on the number of sessions included in the transcript, downloading this document can take some time.

Adding Credits From Non-IMA Events

Add Credits

One of the great features of this system is that it allows you to track credits that were earned outside official IMA events as well. For example, this can include events such as ?????????? or regional events. To get started adding an outside credit, simply click on the "Add my Credits" link.

Please note: do not use this link for any IMA events. If you attended an IMA event, and it is not visible in your listing of credits already, please contact the IMA office.

Once you click on the Add my Credits link, you will be shown a menu that will ask you to enter several items. All fields are required.

  • Activity Name — Enter the title of the event you attended.
  • Activity Sponsor — Please list the name of the organization that provided the credit(s).
  • Granted/Activity Date — Input the date that the event occurred.
  • Activity Number — This is an event-specific number that is typically included on the credit certificate you received at the event. If there wasn't one included, please use the date you achieved the credit (example: 2013-02-05)

Credit Type— There are several types listed. The only credits that you should be adding are non-IMA credits, When adding credits, all credits are non-IMA, so please select the most appropriate credit type from the drop-down menu. For example, if the event you attended was an event held by ???, then you would select "Non-IMA."

Please note: a reminder that all IMA events are already created. You should never need to use the IMA credit types.

Credits — Please input the total number of credits received at the event you attended. One credit equals one full hour of professional development.

Activity Location — Since similar events are often offered at different location, please enter the location where you attended the event. If this was an online course or call, please indicate this here.

Statement of Credit — Upload your proof of attendance here. This can include a certificate of participation or an agenda from the event. Acceptable file types are .doc, .docx, and .pdf.

Event Now Included In Your Listing

credit type After all of these items have been entered, select "Save.” The event should then be included in your Professional Development listing (you may have to refresh your screen for it to appear).

View/Print Your Completed Certification

To view your completed certification, please select the red tab name Certifications/Programs. You will see this screen.

To print your certificate of completion, please select the icon next to the name of the program.

If you have obtained general IMA credits, those have been transferred into an IMA Education Credits field that may show incomplete. This does not refer to your original or recertified IMA status. If you have questions on the credits, please contact the IMA office.
