Dear IMA Member,
Embrace change. It sounds like an oxymoron but the one constant is change. Just recently we had a big change when a major industry supplier bought another major industry supplier. The two are well respected brands that did very well on their own and suddenly they were one – change. There was a national marketing company that suddenly announced that it was shutting down and left their brands scrambling for new representation in the channel – change. These came suddenly without a lot of warning.
Usually when we talk about change we refer to technology – the internet, smart phone, tablets, ultrathin high speed laptops, social media and more. But what about humans? How does all of these changes affect us? The way you sold for years is now old school. The product or service that you sold is now obsolete and its replacement may not have been invented yet. Even worse – you are out of a job and you didn’t prepare for it. I found myself in this position many years ago and I was not well networked and I made a promise to myself that I would network myself until I knew everyone in the industry and everyone knew me. I joined IMRA and then IMA, worked on task forces, joined the boards, attended the conferences and build a large network. The next time I faced a “change” I was ready for it and I embraced it. It gave me a chance to try something new in the channel, start new challenges and see a different side of it.

Nominations for IMA Board of Directors are currently being held. IMA desires to continue to add strong leaders who are diverse representations of our industry to its board. The IMA Board of Directors actively foster the common good of both our association and the industry as a whole. If this description speaks to you, please consider this a proposal to run for an IMA Board Director position.
About the Board of Director Position:
A board member's term lasts three years and is eligible for reelection after that period. A board member must serve one year before eligibility for an officer position.
Director Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Attend three to four meetings per year
- Participate on a committee or Task Force
- Attend the annual Executive Summit
- Spend the average four hours per month on IMA related business
A newly elected board member will need to attend the July board meeting just before the Executive Summit, and will be sworn in during the conference.
Current board members whose terms' expire this July must also submit a Director Candidate Form to rerun for a position on the board.
To nominate yourself as a candidate, fill out this Director Candidate Form and submit it to Karen Wesloh, Executive Director, IMA.
Deadline to apply is April 29, 2016.

The Roundtable Discussions at the IMA Summit 2016 are short and the pace of the event is exciting and fast. There will be the opportunity to host three 20 minute sessions on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 19th before adjourning to an offsite networking function in the evening.
We are currently looking for industry professionals to host roundtables where participants can share their experiences, offer case studies and learn from each other.

The IMA Executive Summit Task Force is seeking members to volunteer at the Summit. If you plan to attend, please consider donating one hour of your time as an on-site volunteer. It is a great way to meet colleagues in the industry and support the IMA community.

In her role as Executive Director, Karen Renk guided the Incentive Marketing Association, championed the business case for incentives, and mentored a wide group of individuals for the betterment of the industry and the association. She was known for a number of qualities including mentoring, character, and professionalism.
The Karen Renk Fellowship Award will be presented to the IMA member who best exemplifies these qualities in service to the association, either through their work within the organization or through outreach to the community at large.
- Current member in good standing of the IMA
- Active role in IMA, a SIG, and/or a Task Force
- Demonstrable and substantial commitment to the organization through time and/or effort to promote the industry and the IMA community at large
Nominations will be accepted throughout the year and reviewed on a monthly basis by the Review Committee. All nominations for the current year’s award must be received no later than May 31st of that year.
The award includes:
- Paid registration for the IMA Summit, where the award will be presented
- Two nights paid accommodation during the IMA Summit
- Crystal award furnished by Waterford
- Copy of a book Karen found insightful, with an inscription from the IMA president
- Waived IP or CPIM certification (within three years) or renewal fees
- Bio and article to be included on the IMA website as a Renk Fellow
- Creation and circulation of a press release highlighting the winner, the award, and the legacy
- Recognition of all Renk Fellows at future Summit General Sessions
- Possibility of future Summit coffee or cocktail with IMA President and Renk Fellow

Share a booth with IMA
IMEX America 2016 planning is underway. Again, IMA is offering to share its booth with interested IMA members. Each year IMA and the companies who share our booth find great success at this event.
Last year nearly 11,000 visitors attended the IMEX America conference. Every one of our booth partners were able to preschedule one-on-one appointments with potential buyers. There were 9,700 successful purchases from buyers throughout the conference, which is a 7% increase from 2014.
