Letter From the President, Louise Anderson, CPIM
I am Louise Anderson, your 2014 IMA President. I wanted to let you in on some exciting opportunities in store for our members and businesses in 2014. Last week, I had the opportunity to share a glimpse of our strategic plan at the IMA Membership Meeting in Las Vegas in conjunction with the PPAI Expo. I want to share some game-changing highlights of our 2014 strategic plan.
Last November, a group of IMA members representing our Special Interest Groups and varying generations met to lay out a new strategic plan for our association. We posed the question to this group as we had to all of our members in 2013: "should end users or customers be included as a category in IMA?” This group of innovative thinkers unanimously felt that the inclusion of an end user/customer category would be a unifier for the entire organization.
This new strategic direction will further enhance the top three benefits members value today:
The customer could be an integral part of IMA’s future, if situated correctly. Their role within the organization will need to be carefully crafted to answer their wants and needs, but they need to be a focus for the IMA.
To take us into the next decade we need to COLLABORATE. EDUCATE. MOTIVATE. These three words are both internal and external. Externally, we can use them as a tagline to describe not only the IMA, but the incentive industry. Internally, we need to live and breathe each of them. Collaborate with our fellow incentive professionals to create new ways of doing business. Educate ourselves on latest trends as well as cast vision for future trends to educate others. Motivate ourselves and others to jump into our future with enthusiasm to create an environment filled with opportunity and promise.
I am looking forward to 2014 and beyond and hope that you are as well.
Louise Anderson, CPIM
Premium Incentive Products magazine features an article entitled "Navigating Turbulent Times," featuring quotes from three IMA Members: Rick Blabolil, CPIM, Marketing Innovators; Mike Ryan, Madison Performance Group; and Michelle Smith, CPIM, O.C. Tanner. Take a look at what they had to say.
On January 15, 2014, outgoing 2013 IMA President Mike Arvelo CPIM announced George Delta, Esq. as the recipient of the 2013 President’s Award. Arvelo highlighted Delta’s many accomplishments including his extensive work with the Incentive Federation in averting an industry disaster when OSHA stated its proposed ergonomics rule that safety incentives do no work and lead to under-reporting of injuries, and his extensive work on the protection of I.R.S. Code 274(j). Arvelo concluded by stating that there is no one else like George Delta in the incentive industry. He dedicates so much time to watch out for our interests at both the state and federal levels and he has such a deep knowledge of our issues. Upon acceptance of the award, Mr. Delta shared that his three industry mentors were: Howard Henry, Karen Renk and Pete Erickson. "No one has done more for the industry than these three," He said. Mr. Delta stated that his mentors are "smart folks, always caring and compassionate, patient, good listeners and people of their word."
