Business is Social: How Companies are Creating New Sources of Value

The Performance Improvement Council has published a new white paper authored by Jerry Klein, Maritz, LLC that delves into the question of how social networks have contributed to the shift in the relationship between customers and brands. The paper is available at Here's a sneak peek:

BUSINESS IS INHERENTLY SOCIAL. Companies create value not just from the goods and services they provide, but also from the networks and the social interactions they facilitate.

Just as businesses create goods, services and financial capital, they also create value in the form of "social capital” from their networks. A recent article in Performance Improvement suggests that "the power of social capital is the condition that social ecosystems – family, organization, market, town, country – provide their members for creating wealth and well-being by combining resources.” Read more.

A Tale of Two Cities: Balancing Program Owner and Participant Needs in Award Funding and Selection

The IRF recently produced an online 30-minute recording that attacks the issue of choosing and funding the right awards from multiple angles. The program owner’s view takes into consideration limited budgets, expected business results and the decision criteria to help walk the tightrope between the two. The participant’s view explores the psychological aspects of participation in a reward or incentive program and what it takes to motivate. The IMA Office Is Moving

IMA’s association management company, Ewald Consulting, will be moving their office currently located in Naperville, Illinois to Rosemont, Illinois. The move is scheduled for December 12-20, 2013 during which time there may be intermittent response delays to inquiries. Thank you in advance for your patience.

It is anticipated that organization phone numbers may change, but the information is still pending. In the meantime, members may continue to use the current numbers which will be transferred during transition. The IMA office will provide further information when it becomes available.
